This position, reporting to the Moderator, oversees the daily operations of the church to ensure organization and efficiency. Works with the Pastor, and all members of Steering Team, Ministries and the congregation.
Duties:
1. Coordinate, plan and execute church events.
2. Manage daily operations and record keeping of the church office. Maintains church calendar of events, assist visitors, handle mail, route email messages.
3. Supervises Administrative Assistant, Custodian and Facilities Maintenance Technician.
4. Manage contracts for needed services including oil delivery, trash pick-up, electricity service, etc. Purchase office and custodial supplies. Source and negotiate for best price opportunities. Assist with sourcing contractors for other projects as necessary. Source and negotiate for best price opportunities. This requires coordination with Building & Maintenance Team.
5. Keep records of the congregation/membership updated in computer database.
6. Oversee church technology systems (phone, internet, computers, etc) and office equipment.
7. Assist with scheduling meetings, renting church facilities, and enforcing church policies for facility use.
8. Assist with overseeing church facility maintenance and security operations.
9. Assist to create budgets.
10. Manage the church website and Facebook page.
11. Provide backup support in the absence of the Administrative Assistant for creation of the bulletin and newsletter.
12. Provide backup support in the absence of the Treasurer for key duties.
13. Serve on the Steering Circle (church governing board) and attend monthly meetings.
14. Build and maintain relationships with the congregation and community.
15. Other duties as assigned by the Moderator.
Skills Required:
· 2-year degree or equivalent in work/management experience preferred.
· Supervisory experience necessary.
· Proficient computer skills. Email, MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Publisher). Web design, social media, and Church Windows experience desired. Operation of office equipment (copier, fax, scanner, answering machine) required.
· Purchasing and negotiating experience a plus.
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
· Proficiency in math.
· Attention to detail and ability to problem solve.
· Ability to keep confidential and sensitive information.
· Familiarity with church operations.
Hours:
Mon-Fri. 9-2. (25 hrs.)
